    Default Question regarding Permanent residentship

    Hi,
I am a skilled immigrant and I have the 140+ points to qualify for the
    Permanent resident ship.
I have a doubt regarding the time frames for applications, they are as follows

    - Once i get the ITA what is the average time it takes for the approval?
    - Once i am granted PR, within what time frame am i required to visit NZ?
Can i wait until I have a good job offer to fly to NZ or is there any time limits?

    Regards
    Sachin

    Hi

Once you receive your ITA you will have 4 months to submit all your documents, medicals etc. The time of approval after that depends on a lot of things but can take anything from 3- 12 months i guess.
After Residency is approved you will have 12 months in which to activate it (arrive in NZ).

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the info Beth,
Another input I would like to have is regarding filing for PR.

After going thro the checklist, I feel it should be easy for me to file for
PR myself, without any consultant. What is your advice regarding the same.

There are many people who don't use consultants.
If you feel that you can do it yourself then do- it will save a whole lot of money. Even if you do use a consultant you still have to do all the leg work yourself with gathering info- they tend to guide you with timing more than anything i think.

There are plenty of peeps on here that can help out with any queries- most are going through it or have been through.
