    Default Electrical goods

    Hi all,

I know my 40 inch lcd tv will work in NZ, but I would also like a 50 inch plasma tv as we hope for a bigger living room when we get there, buying one in the UK is good as it is a buyers market here with plenty of retailers fighting for business, I understand there will be less retailers in NZ and when I have searched Google NZ it only seems to come up with rental companies.
Can anyone give me an idea of where I could buy one in NZ preferably in or near to Christchurch or is it best to buy one here and ship it over in the container?
Also does anyone know if DAB radios work in NZ and finally what tv is available, eg Sky, Cable etc.

    Thanks in advance

    Simon.

    Hi Simon,

A couple of the bigger retailers who sell TVs.
    Dick Smith.
    Noel Leeming.

Both can be found in Chch. What you said about it being a buyer's market in the UK also applies to NZ, so check out the prices for comparison. It could be that, if you buy several items from the same shop, you could nab yourself a bit of a discount. There's always a risk when shipping 'delicate' equipment that it could get damaged, but a lot of people have shipped their TVs to NZ so it can be done.

    Hi

I shipped my LCD tv from the uk and it worked ok, most new models will work fine over here.

As far as set top boxes go we have just released HD Freeview through a std tv ariel, it only gives you 8 channels though so its not like the uk. Sky have HD and MY Sky (Sky +) which offer more choice but again is limited to the channels.

    Good luck
    Alan
