It's 12 months, Selchie and as far back as I can remember it's been the same. Not sure what I can bring up in the way of a link showing this at short notice, but the general word on the street is always 12 months, at least these days it is. Thought the time limit for paying the Migrant Levy was 4 months, too, not 6 although I must admit to having heard it was 6 a short while back so that must have changed. Just how long ago did you apply? Perhaps you applied when I was just cutting my teeth on immigration and things were different then. If you did have 24 months I wonder if that still applies.

Sounds like you might have to move fast.

Edited to add: Just found this. If you find R5.65 on page 69 under Residence visas, it states there that you have 12 months and it looks like it's from the original Immigration Act of 1987.

I finally rechecked our "congratulations" letter, and there it does indeed state 12 months to activate. So we are upping our "reality check" trip by a couple of months. We ought to pester one or two of you in September. Gotta get a rental car from Taffy, so he's not safe Karin's talking about going for only a couple of weeks and checking out major urban centers. Who knows; maybe I'll stick around for another week or two so I can visit a few more of you in outlying areas, and maybe collect some painting subjects on the way.

That will coincide with our arrival. If you end up in Chch area - let us know and we can meet.

Default Time Limit Allowed After Immigration Accepted

Hi
Would anyone let me know the same time period when a "work to residence" visa is issued instead of "residence" visa against an EOI under skilled migrant category?

What I know is something like below

INZ notifies that the applicant has been issued a “work to residence” visa.

Within 3 months applicants must apply for a work permit with some more documents.

INZ will issue a work permit that will allow applicant to work in New Zealand for 9 months.

But during what time duration the applicant needs to use that work permit is not mentioned anywhere or in other words if I have been issued a work permit today by when I must start my work in New Zealand? I don’t think it would remain open for long / indefinite time.
