    Default marriage ??

    hi all
can anybody answer this question :
My OH and i are not married, but we have a son together and have been living together in SA for 5 years - we can prove this....
will this in anyway affect our process ? which is: (for those don't know)
D will come on VV - find a job (he's a plumber) - apply for a WP - then we will follow...

As long as you can prove you have lived together for at least 12 months and can prove you are in a stable relationship then it won't matter that you are not married.

Just to reinforce Beth's comments, NZ isn't the Middle East where you do, in some countries, need to be married to live here even temporarily. If you read through the INZ pages you'll very often see the term 'partner' used so you can take comfort from that. INZ fully accepts people who are not married, but are in a good, solid relationship. They just get jumpy if they suspect that a relationship may be used purely as a stepping stone for someone to get into NZ.

Darn it! When I saw the title of this thread I thought we were lining up for a MTNZ wedding. I was about to dig out my posh hat.

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.
