Just had a call from Telecom.

They want Neil for the job but they still have the freeze on recruitment so just a case of waiting for that one now- however long that will be.

In the meantime we have tomorrows interview to get through.

What will Neil do if he gets offered the job tomorrow? Will he take it to tide him over until the Telecom job finally becomes available (if that's the one he really wants), as that could be months away yet?

Not sure yet. Don't think he will be able to take one and then tak ethe Telecom one when it comes along 'cos we will be using job offer for PR so he'll be 'tied' to the job won't he.

The job tomorrow is actually for a Senior Project Manager rather than just a normal one so on a CV it's the next step up for him. It is government so should be good to work for.

Will just have to decide if we need to but could to have a choice eh?

Of course, silly me. I was forgetting you need the job offer. Well, I'll wish Neil all the very best although I'm sure he'll sail through it. Then it's up to Telecom to pull the rabbit out of the hat or risk losing him. You can't wait forever and Telecom might move the goalposts again before it comes to offering him a firm job and you'll find you've waited for nothing. A bird in the hand, and all that.

How did it go?

As regards the job offers ... Neil could take this job, and I don't believe it'd matter if he changed 2 or 3 months later (that's assuming he gets offered both).

Am waiting with baited breath ...

Our old comrade Jamesthecarman had a similar experience with Telecom - offered him a job he couldnt take due to the 'freeze'. I think it took something like 4-6 months in the end before it was 'unfrozen'! Not saying that will be the case, but Telecom aren't renowned for their speed.
