I will assume from the previous post a while back that nobody wants to takwe over the mantle of a get together in Christchurch ........... not that I am putting myself forward for the job ...... Im wayyyyy to shy and reserved for that .

Although we have quite a few members who are living in Chch, I believe several of them are originally from the US and sadly haven't settled that well going by previous posts from them. We haven't seen much of them over the last few months so that may hinder the response to Alan and Moyra's get-together plans. Let's hope some of the others will look in on the forum and think it's a good idea.

We seem to be particularly bad at arranging these get-togethers. This is a shame as we all share some forum history together which should make it easier to bond.

Hi Motherbear, I had seen a previous post for a get together but I saw there was no replies to it so I thought I would try a nerw one and see what happens.

You must be getting excited by now Nicky ?? not long to go ........... and arrive just in time for summer to start.... we arrived in October and the weather is still great 5 month later.

Before you know it you will be on the plane and heading out here................. who you flying with ?

We're flying with Singapore Airlines - the top one according to the recent report. Stop over in Singapore for just 2 hours. We sgould arrive in Chch at 9.30am on a Sunday. Don't know if much will be open for us to see but I suppose we will be too tired anyway.

One stop over ......... hard going flight, but at least its not BA !!!!!!!! lol

9.30 on a Sunday...... your right not too much open at that time, but enough to get you by, supermarkets will all be open so at least you can go buy some things.

You sorted for accommodation on arrival, we stayed at the Chateu Blanc for a week, could do with a make over but the place is clean and staff are very helpful

We are looking at holiday accomodation for the first couple of weeks- we will have 2 teenage boys with us - then we hope to be able to find a rental (as long as it takes dogs!!!!). Is the Chateu Blanc a hotel or motel?

Hey Al, do you (or Moira) play any musical instruments? I'm starting a monthly (possibly two-weekly) music workshop now that the nights will start drawing in. Nothing too fancy. Just a chance to play a few tunes and try a bit of improvisation among light-hearted friends. Venue to be decided, but probably on the south or west side of the city.....

Hi Nicky, it is a motel,we had a 1 bed apartment, separate kitchen in central Chch, but there are tons of motels here, if you have a quick check on the net and put in Bealy Ave, i reckon there must be about a dozen or so in that road alone.

I assume you have looked at things like allrealestate for rental properties ?

Hi kokopeli, if you count putting a cd into my player as musical then yes I can play an instrument but other than that my talents are zero !!!!!
