Thanks Molly, you two carry much more importance than I, but I really do think a aircraft mechanic should carry more weight than an auto mechanic. It's really hard to pull over an airplane when something goes wrong. NZ is a collection of floating airports. Trying to not read much into the phone interview coming up, they may have or even offer up some insight on the visa issues. They are a defense contractor so maybe my licenses and degrees will help. Funny, my brother has been a project manager on the 777 since it was conceived and will retire next year from Boeing in Seattle.

I always thought that the shortage list was a bit strange and having some insight into this industry, I am absolutely sure that they got something wrong. Just a few examples: the CAA was desperately looking for investigators with industry experience and had to recruit people from Oz and the UK. I also know that avionics engineers are almost impossible to find. The aviation industry is very active here and skilled (and licensed) personnel hard to find.

Talking Boing. A few years ago we almost had the opportunity to visit their site in Seattle. But on the day the visit was scheduled, 9/11 happened...

Hmm, this one is the NZ Aviation News.
Employment Index : New Zealand Aviation News

And then there is always the Airforce (at least the civilian side of it)
RNZAF - Civilan

Or AirNZ:
Air New Zealand: Job Search

Or here:
Jobs in Aerospace - Defence | careerjet.co.nz

Why I visit this forum? When we were in the Switzerland/NZ transition phase I was grateful for all information I could possibly get from people who already were settled in NZ. Now that we are quite well established in NZ, I can return the favor and provide information...

I appreciate all the input this forum is providing and I'll let you all know what my phone interview experience is like this week.
Ditto the positive thoughts from MB to Molly. Thanks for the job links Molly.
