    Cool Worried about medical!!

    Hey there everyone

I am Gill from Dundee Scotland and i am applying for residency to be with my partner Dan who is a Kiwi, i have my medical on Friday and so nervous about it, I seen an article about a woman from uk who was refused residency because she was overweight, now i know im a bit overweight and basically crapping myself. I just hope that the fact that i am being sponsored by my partner will make a difference, this whole process is so stressful, all i wanna do is be with the guy i love xx

It would depend on how much overweight you are talking, mostly they are looking for overweight problems that could cause excessive finincial strain on the health service in later years, but Id not worry about it too much

Being overweight doesn't necessarily ban you from proceeding with your application. It can just mean that you'll have to have some further tests done to ensure you haven't got problems like diabetes.

The guidelines on the medical forms say the waist measurement of females can be up to 88 cm and for males 102 cm before tests are required.

I was like you a couple of weeks ago. Don't worry too much (I know it is easier said than done............ I've been there!!)
Someone told me that the press article didn't give a true reflection (surprise, surprise) and the woman featured was quite short and quite overweight so BMI etc wasn't good.
Good luck, I am sure you will be OK.
