For those still in the UK. At 9:15 am on BBC1 starting tomorrow (Wednesday) is a new series called "Wanted Down Under". The first one tomorrow looks at a family considering emigrating to NZ who are given the chance to spend a week in Dunedin. Might be worth a look!

I saw this series last year before we left the UK but they were sending peeps to places in Oz. It was really informative and I remember wishing they'd do one for NZ, looks like other people had the same idea!

The TV here is crap guys! Even with Sky the only BBC we get is the World Service. We knew we'd miss the BBC but we didn't expect Kiwi TV to be this bad! Barely anything is made here, most of it is bought in. You get the odd BBC drama and the Eastenders and Coronation Street crap that we never watched in the UK anyway, the kiwis know more about it than us!
The other thing that really winds me up about Kiwi TV is that they shove anything on at any time of the day. If you're not careful to scan the TV Guide everyday your kids could end up watching stuff in the middle of the day that wouldn't be allowed on before 9pm in the UK. Oh, and no one bats an eyelid at 'shit' 'arse' 'bugger' 'bollucks' 'piss' 'bastard' being said on the TV or radio at anytime of the day so beware!!!!

A week in Dunedin.....not exactly the best way to showcase NZ....sorry Macfod, no, seriously these programmes should follow up people say six months or maybe a year later to give a reality touch, no-one can truly decide to stay or go in one week...can they?

Oh, and as for the telly, I am with you there Dawn. The nice things for us is that we missed all the Brit crap 'cos of living in France; so we actually get to see things that feel new. Maori TV has some good if cheesey films with a strong NZ feel to them but you have to look out for them.

You didn't really miss much Nicky- was a bit dissapointed that it didn't really give you much information.

The family were shipped off to NZ to spend 1 week looking at house and were lined upwith a job to try for a day and then they had to decide if they would stay or return home.

They went to Dunedin- the woman was a nurse so may have been a bit more interesting for you Nicky but prob wouldn't have found out anything you don't already know.

It is on again tomorrow with another family but think it is for OZ.

Thanks Beth. Just checked on sky - tomorrow is OZ but Friday & Monday are NZ. Have put it on series link so won't miss it.

To change subject - OH has finally said yes and told me to submit EOI. So will get it all checked & submit it by the end of the week.

Jess back at school tomorrow but should just about make it back from the school run in time to sit down with a coffee and watch it.
