I am curious to know what the consultants did for you, Bstar? I'm wondering what sort of service they provided that you couldn't have done for yourself. This would be helpful for those considering using one.

My consultant ran everything through for me...of course I had to fill the forms in myself, but he told me the exact wording to put on the form. He also told me when to get my medicals etc etc to fit in with the time frame. Consultants of high caliber are usually on a 'friend' basis with Immigration Officers, and basically can push your case forward quickly. I basically didn't have to think or stress to much about getting my visa, as it was done for me, and I had to get it before September 07, which I did...
Also, in London I was working a high stress management role, and was travelling extensively to the US and Asia (oh how my life has now changed...I am beginning to think a trip to Palmerston is now as glamourous as my life gets )...so I really had no time on my hands to sort out my residency effectively for the time frame I wanted to be in NZ.
Consultants are expensive....and you can do this yourself...however, if you want to be sure of getting your visa, the right advise quickly, and hassle free, I would recommend them.

I filled their free on-line assesment form on their site twice last month (thought they forgot about me after 2 weeks), never got a reply.
Anyone here used New life New Zealnd services ?
