Christchurch seems to be a very popular destination these days. MoveToNZ will have its own enclave there soon .

Congratulations on making it down, Johnty. Hope you settle well and enjoy your new job. We'll look forward to following your progress.

There was plenty of on board entertainment then?

Is this cheaper than renting a property? We will be bringing our dogs as well and we are worried that we won't be able to get a rental that takes dogs. How did you find this holiday let? We will be in Christchurch next September.

    Welcome to NZ, Johnty!

Hope your day at work goes OK tomorrow. You will no doubt be still suffering from jetlag so maybe a little while without the kids will give you the time to rest and settle.

I would have thought that holiday lets are more expensive than regular rentals, seeing as they are usually in tourist/coastal areas. They will probably be furnished too, whereas most rentals are not. We've just had a week 30mins north of Auckland in a holiday let - four bedroom house, sea views, 5min walk to the beach - put us back $860. Of course, there are cheaper options and a cheaper rate can be obtained for a longer term.

Yes the holiday let is more expensive than a normal rental, but cheaper than a rental and kennel fees ,ally found the place on the net and they done us a good deal as we are having it for a month (not hugely more expensive than what i am paying at the backpackers nand thats just me ,and its sparse to say the least.not even a small wardrobe)
went to see my new local team last night shame we got whipped buy auckland

    Hi Johnty,

We rented a holiday home when we first came to NZ and stayed in Rotorua. It was about $150 more a week but that included our leccy etc and it was a nicer place to stay for our first stint in NZ. And very scenic of course as well

We bargained hard to get the rental down and they were good to accommodate. And extended the rental on a weekly basis as well until we knew what we were doing.

I'm sure you and the family will love it there.
