ok thought would just share with you. Have finally got myself to Sylvia Park and have to say its great! What nostalgia, seeing all those English goodies that you remember from home. I was almost jumping up and down on the spot in shere excitement. No toffee crisps or orange mathsticks though. We spent $60 on stuff!!!!! Sad I know but we just couldnt help ourselves. We had our little trolley and we just kept piling it up We bought, Walkers Cheese & Onion Crisps & Prawn Cocktail, Twiglets, Quavers, Orange Club Biscuits, Chocolate Hob Nobs and scampi fries!! Oh yeh and Minstrels. I had forgotten all about scampi fries until I saw them! My OH just managed to pull me away from the pork scratchings just in time, otherwise it would have been far too embarrassing. Even the checkout girl commented on all our non kiwi purchases.

Bought all that lot Saturday and its almost gone already!

Next stop, shopping ... big centre gets its own rail station
5:00AM Monday July 02, 2007
By Mathew Dearnaley

A new railway station is opening today at Auckland's Sylvia Park shopping centre, in time for school-holiday crowds.

Trains will stop at the new station at least once every 30 minutes - and more often at peak times - giving shoppers and retail workers a 19-minute ride from Britomart or a 31-minute trip from Papakura.

That compares with a 45-minute bus ride from central Auckland and an often-frustrating hunt for a vacant parking space for those who drive to Sylvia Park.

But passengers must make sure they board an eastern line service to reach the shopping centre, via the waterfront and Glen Innes, as the southern line bypasses it.

Although it looks similar to most other new stations being developed in Auckland's railway revival, it is unusual in that it was paid for by the shopping centre's developer.

But although that was a requirement of its resource consent, Kiwi Property Income Trust has gone further by supplying 200 free 10-trip train tickets to retail workers to introduce them to rail transport.

"We really want to encourage people to use the train," said chief executive Angus McNaughton, whose centre caused a traffic nightmare a year ago when cars blocked the Southern Motorway as shoppers chased bargains at the opening of Sylvia Park's first stage of 50 shops.

Just thought would let you all know, been back at Sylvia Park yet again. Now we have discovered it, we cant seem to stay away. Anyway, the buyer at the Pak & Save told us that they have just ordered 200 new and different British items to add to what they have already. Count em 200! They will be here in five weeks. They must have my toffee crisps in that lot!
