OK, so I'm a bit late with the day's news with it being our weekend here but thought I'd alert certain parties that crime has come to Palmy North .

Thanks Moggy! We are very excited about it all and now we can't wait to get there in July for a visit to see the place in person.

MB not to worry...money, what money?...Shellbda and I don't have any money anymore...we just spent it on our deposit for the house... If I had though, I'd hunt the idiot down...

What a great site this is. You're from the USA right? It sounds like a good idea to buy property in advance and rent it out. I hope you don't mind me asking: Did you get a lone in the USA? What did you pay for this amazing NZ-house?

Hey Tux, actually we are not from the States. We are from Bermuda, although the US is only 700miles away, we're British. We actually got our mortgage with a NZ bank...Westpac... We had to pay a 20% deposit because we were non-residents, but that was really the only difference. We also had a friend who lives in the area that we bought the house and he went and thoroughlysearched over the property, so we would now what we were dealing with and whether the house was as good as it looked online. I think this was probably the most important part, I wouldn't trust just the pictures online or a real estate agent. Do you know someone in NZ who could help you out?

Definately, even if it's only for the evenings and mornings before the sun gets up and warms the cockles of your heart. We've only been in the summer time and even then I've had dire need of a woolly on odd occasions. Remember NZ isn't that far from Antarctica and, if the wind's in the right direction.........
