He also does very healthy veggie food, so you can easily skim around the donuts if you REALLY want to.

Kokopeli this sounds fantastic. I might be up for it if you fancy a team thing? I've never kayaked but I have done triathlon and usually run about 7 miles 3 x a week as well as teaching all that dance and riding and all that. Glutton for punishment me but I love it! The harder the challenge the more I'm up for it!! Where are you based?

Ahhh, I've been rumbled. Competitors get a can of beer at the finish.

Although we've been in NZ for almost seven months, I haven't actually had any Speights. That's not through lack of trying and it's on my list of things to do........

Oh wow that looks really cool.. would love to do it and hopefully I should be in New Zealand by then too... ... however neither myself nor my partner are kayakers and don't have the grade 2 kayaking certificate Does anyone know what level this certificate is and whether it would be easy to do a course beforehand and get said certificate??? Maybe I could swim instead of kayak... would that count

Ok... so I've managed to navigate the site in a bit more detail and think maybe the kayaking side looks a bit too technical for my abilities... so guess that counts me out

Sorry to hijak your post kokopeli... but does anyone know of any other similar events (running, cycling or swimming etc) that will be going on next year that I could look into????

Fingers crossed I should be arriving in NZ on a WHV about December time and staying at least 5 months initially... so summer events predominantly...
