I have some notions about where we'll look: Welly, Nelson, Aucks, Hamilton, Chch, maybe Dunedin. Mostly it will have to do with where the jobs are most likely to be. Both Karin and I have degrees in geology, though our job experience has not been in classical areas like oil & mining. We figure government jobs, say doing geohazards studies or environmental cleanup are the likeliest possibilities. I know Karin has been checking out potential employers, and I collected a little info early on.
Personally, I'd rather work in a plant nursery or public garden, even if it doesn't bring in as much money. Karin would rather do something food-related, but her knees won't tolerate working in a restaurant. Maybe someday she'll open a little specialty food market, and I'll have a nursery or market garden. I'm all for doing something that feeds my soul along with my belly.
