Well, Mark, I wonder if you've changed the course of history - NZIS history at any rate. The LTBP is notoriously difficult to get so you appear to have cracked it.

Hearty congratulations and long may you and your cafe thrive. Well done!

macfod is on a distinguished road
Smile and now confirmation which got lost for a few days

Just a taster of what hopefully others will get in the future to make their dreams come true.
I have only read it 100 times or so:p

We are writing with regard to your application for a long term business visa
which was accepted for consideration on 08 March, 2007.

Our decision on your application
I am pleased to tell you that we have approved your application in principle as
an exception to policy. However, we still need to issue your work visa and
permit.

Your work visa and permit
Please send your passport to this office by 02 May, 2007, so that we can issue
your visa/permit. The visa will allow you to travel to and from New Zealand as
many times as you like. The permit will allow you to stay in the country and
operate your intended business in New Zealand.

We will return your passports within 10 working days. Please let us know if you
cannot send us your passports before the due date.

How long will your work visa and permit be valid for?
Your visa and permit will be valid for 9 months. At the end of this time, you
may be able to apply for a further 27 months (see below for more information).

What must you do during the first 9 months of your work visa and permit?
During the first 9 months of your work visa and permit, you will need to:
? set up/operate your business according to the business plan in your
application
? transfer your capital investment funds to New Zealand through the banking
system

What happens after the first 9 months?
Once you have successfully set up your business, you can apply for a visa or
permit for a further 27 months, that is, the balance of the 3 years available
under the long-term visa category. We will write to you later with more details
about how to apply for the balance of the 3 years.

Applying for residence
If you apply for residence in the future, we will assess your application under
the policy applying at that time.

Whoopeeeeeeeeeeeeee:D

Roughly translated: There's no way you should have got in, but we were feeling kind!

Your application has certainly amazed a few people Macfod, so just goes to show that it can be done if you really want it.
