application for Perminant residency

hi guys.

i think i might be heading back to the uk with my kiwi wife from november to take us to the 12month mark so i can apply for Perminant residency through the partner scheme..

does anyone know, if i apply for residency from the UK on Jan 27th - how long that will take to come through so we can both fly back to NZ?!?

Sorry I don't undersantd why you have to head back to the UK at all in order to apply under the partner category, I would think that you would have an easier time of it staying in NZ, then you could also add you NZ work experience to your application as well.
Heading back to the UK sounds to be blunt, erm daft.

my work permit expires in october.and i have to have been with my wife for 12months to apply for perminant residence..and i hate my current job and i dont really want to apply for a employment based permit...thats why

plus my misses wants to see london and some of europe.

Hi Jiwi,

You dont have to have been married for 12 months to qualify, you just need to have been in the relationship that long, and be able to prove it somehow. Obviously I dont know how long you've been together, but assuming you didnt meet on your wedding day, you could apply for residency quicker, and just take your wife on a nice holiday to the UK instead for a honeymoon :)

well , its all been a bit of a whirlwind ,,,

we've been married a month now , but been living together for just over 2 months and been togehter 4months.

hahaaa!!...it's awesome...

Basically, immigration said they wouldn't listen to my perm residenceapplication until we'd been living together for 12 months...dam

Yes, it's the 'living together' (married or otherwise) bit that counts. ?Just having been in a relationship for 12 months doesn't cut the mustard with NZIS. ?They obviously believe that living together constitutes more hazards in a relationship than just courting (do they still call it that now? :-?) and they're probably right. ? ;D

Dont know if NZ are the same but in Canada they ask for photographic proof of your relationship. ?

My Canadian friend was in Scotland and met her partner so right from the start they took lots of photos, making sure the date on the camera was on. ?As well as that they also took photos under banners with dates on eg, Fesitvals that had dates on etc. And make sure all bills are billed to both of you to prove things as well.

This helped them a lot getting back to Canada as a partnership. ?Sounds silly but most immi offices like to make doubly sure you're a 'real' couple and not trying to just get into the country so keep everything!
