buying a business on visiters permit

GREAT NEWS!
9AM this morning I was told by immigration we couldnt buy a business as we could not take any part from the day to day running of it!! :-[ :(

But, not put out I managed to get to speak to Business Migration AND
So, helpful and mailed me back saying that I could once I got my LTBV approved as we dont take over the business until 2nd April and they would process it quicker!
Even though I hadnt planned to send it in until next week.

And if there was a problem and not being cleare then he was willing to issue a working visa for a short time if needed!

So helpful and another name to add to my list.

That doing we have today bought a vegarian cafe bar in Dunedin and stuck our necks out.

A really busy day and medicals tommorow.
We need to read up now on employment laws and stuff as we have five staff working currently and will need to re-emply them.

Keep us posted on how you get on. ?It'll be very interesting to see if you can get your LTBV without the two main requisites a) having previous experience in that type of business and b) having run your own business in the same line. ?

If you can get through with just the power of determination it might give others a bit of a boost to make the effort, as I know some people have found it a very difficult process even when they've got all the necessary ingredients for success. ?If you can get the LTBV it shows that there is some flexibility in the NZIS system.

Positive.. we succeed - make four or more times profit on our money over here compared to 7% at ANZ.

Its a chance but thats life and we are enjoying the challenge.not all the paperwork though ;D

Good for you Mark. I thought I have a fairly "come what may" attitude, but you have gone straight past and bought a business while sorting out the details.

So much of this process is Catch-22 where you can't get the visa if you don't have a business so buy the business and then it might help get the visa. Or go over as a visitor, get a job, then get the visa.

Diving as well ..jealous as we are both divers!
We had looked at DIVEOTAGO which is on the market, but too much hassle so we are treading softly softly for now until approval.
Just excited at things and prospect of taking the five staff back on if viable now we own the business. :)
And its a sunny day so yes its fun.
