:-[
Bit of a downer today..still no case worker or news so emailed BM office and was told its up tp 3mths still or dependant on their workload and quality of Business Plan.

Moving goal-posts.
So, I have asked them to issue us with temp work visa's until we get progressed as we nee to be involved with business from April- I await reply.

Meantime will apply for extra permits and visa to get stay extended for 12 months as we would like to go back to Uk in May for a short visit as we have return tickets already..
SO, will keep you updated on the ups and downs of all 8-) ;)

Its fun..and cold today!

Hi Macfod and everyone else here...
Geeee just read through this thread! What a palarva hey....
It must be grim having to wait for their decision!! When you're in England or where ever, you get the feel that you''ll be well 'looked after' if you have something to offer NZ but another story once here! Your venture sounds like a great idea and some fun and hard work to follow, (if only given the chance).
It sounds like you're doing everything possible to make it happen and that has to be admired!
Where is your cafe? I take it you're in the south island? We're in Auckland, (been here for 6 months now and also from the midlands - L/Spa to be precise),
All the best, look forward to hearing some positive happenings!
From Debra & Eddie

Hi all
An update for anyone interested ::)

Well, three weeks on since Immigration recieved our LTBV info and confirmed it by text and email- since then nothing as yet..but remaining positive.

We officially take over our vegi cafe next week and are so excited and awaiting news to enable us to plan and buy a house!

Its hectic and fun opening accounts and having people check us out for credit.
House auctions seem interesting now we have been looking about..

Its maybe a bit of a nervy time as we have now money invested in a company which we might be forced to sell!!! arrrhhh
Plus seven staff we will employ from 2nd April..
But Immigration said we would here in six weeks from the date they received the info--so we wait.

Meanwhile, interesting banter on the forum with a few ;) which I will keep out of as a guy in his forties then face cream is of little interest!! :o

But Macfod, haven't you seen the new L'Oreal adverts for mens sunshimmer moisturiser - 'because you're worth it too!!!' Not sure if the old NZ machos'd be up for that altho according to MB they're much more likely to shave their legs than most blokes! Could be the same guys that are eating veggie lasagna at your place - try offering a lunchtime special, bruscetta and a facial :)

Waiting for this decision must be a pain in the old proverbial but at least you're showing committment and getting on with it in the meantime, that has to stand for something. Were your work permits issued immediately or did you have to wait for them, the case officer must have seen a chink of light otherwise he wouldn't have suggested that route surely?

Good luck Mr and Mrs Macfod and do keep us posted, oh and I hope you're one of those that may provide us with tea and biscuits when we get down your way, a friendly face will be much appreciated whether it's moisturised or not. ;)

aha so much to do !! fun and lots of sorting but fun..

And now seven staff to consider!

BM expected us to put a manager in place until out LTBP is hopefully granted, but cant wait so today have mailed them asking that they give us working visa's so we can manage and run the business-still awaiting reply.

We are the chain smoking ( joking ) hippie type -as if now owners of a vegetarian cafe in Dunedin- Potpourri in STUART STREET.

Just back from our beef/chicken Indian meal!!

Pop in when your down for achat and sample coffee....
We love it here -with all there differences ...so friendly and down to earth normal people....
Still waiting ...for how long....

But learning lots about NZ and how to make coffee and vegi food.

Keep you posted

Dunedin is always an interesting place ;)

Well, Immigration have told me the that my case officer has been told to prioritize my apllication as they have had aquick look at it with an answer this week-eeeek
Meantime, we can work and manage the business as consultants ... who cares as long we as get our LTBP !
The guy is very helpful and we remain positive just three weeks after submitting our application...and working our butts off behind the scenes.. ;D :o
