Hi Macfod,
you know i really believe "where there's a will there's a way" I had issues with my LTBV where NZIS said I couldn't set up a second business which was actually one I had ran successfully in the UK as it wasn't in my original application. I thought this was stupid and so I emailed Helen Clarke and explained everything to her without expecting a reply. Within a week I had an email from her office saying I could set up the second business and a week letter a similar letter arrived from NZIS. My only concern in your case is that you don't meet any of the original crteria for an LTBV but Taffy is correct you should really push the fact that you are employing Kiwi's. Unfortunately a lot of people do bite the bullet and move to NZ without everything in place and they do get rejected. I wish you all the best. Keep us posted and if you get in I'll bring Taffy down for a coffee.

That'd be us then ;) Well the 'without everything in place' bit anyway, the rest remains to be seen. BUT NOT IF I CAN BLOODY HELP IT!

I woke up this morning thinking, 'What the hell am I doing? I don't even know what this place we're going to looks like. I must be completely spango to just up my kids from everyone and everything they know, fly them thousands of miles over 'LOST' type islands and tell them 'OK guys, here's our life now, let's get on with it.' What kind of a twatty mother am I? And let's not forget Gary and me, we fit into this equation somewhere too. Are we to become wide brim hat wearing, rosy cheeked,  blistered fingered apple pickers for the rest of our lives? We don't know, we just don't know! WHAT AM I DOING? I AM AN IDIOT!!

Then, I got up, drank tea, fed my kids some unctious goo type cereal they have to eat to keep warm, watched them slump despondently into the car to be transported to their educational facility that they're completely bored with, don't see the point of but accept it as if it's their punishment for being born, thought about Gary heading towards his day sat in front of a computer screen, doing a pointless job with made up responsibilities, making decisions he's paid to make that will later be turned over by his boss making a different one, chasing up enquiries doing his utmost to be within the running for winning a quote only for his boss to decide, 'no can't be bothered with that one, got to go shooting today'. The dogs consoled me as I sat dejectedly on the floor after opening a letter from the local arts authority telling me that my application for funding to keep the young peoples dance group I run going for the next year has been rejected. And now, those kids from one of the worst areas in Nottinghamshire for poverty and socio-economic linked anti-social behaviour will be back out on the streets, causing havoc, nicking cars, getting drunk and a few of them pregnant to boot, instead of being somewhere safe working with me towards being able to express their anger and disappointment in society and family in a positive, guided, objective and focused way.

Apple picking sounds fabulous! I reckon I can cope with the blisters on my fingers but I may have to swap the hat for some shades

Hi Dawn,
I know exactly where you are coming from (almost literally as I'm originally from Coventry) Things like having my car stolen 3 times, house burgled running around not being able to sit down and have a family meal together were some of the things that made us make the descision to come out here. Some people do take the risk of coming out on visitor permits etc and things go OK but it's the ones who do it who probably haven't been on this forum and haven't done any research that are more likely to come unstuck. I was unsure about the move and was leaving a large group of family and friends but hey you only live once so hang in there and if something gets in your way try to find a way round it.

all the best

Paul

mmmmmmmmmmm
I wonder how much the critera matters for running a cafe house!
My previous life before chucking my job in Uk was handling Walmart and Tesco stores in the uk with huge business.
My wife also having a good job.

So, we have no own-business experience, but well travelled and having all on top we will make a go at it.
I mean this is the foot in the door as they cannot expect us to invest any more money in a country until they show they want you and your money.

I'm told now the place we have bought is always full with lawyers and people from court so all else fails a campaign - British poeple shunned ;)

We await some response at this stage before anything else.
Like we are living in a house thats cold and too big, but no way will we buy until sorted.

chicken and egg!! trouble being our business is vegetarian!! :)

Its a long way from brum!

Hi Macfod,
have you thought about making the trip to Wellington and calling in to see the people at the NZIS business unit. It's in an office on the terrace. They have a reception area so I'd call in say you need to talk to someone and get an answer as if they are going to stick to the rules they'll be able to tell you straight away. LTBV can take a year to process. I was originally told 2 months for mine then they said it would be 6 to 9 months and then 12. At least you'd know where you stand.

British people with enterprise, experience, business knowledge, goodwill and their own money shunned......I reckon you've got a strong campaign headline there Macfod! I'll look for you leading revolutionary, banner-waving protest marches on the telly. I can imagine tribal-like chants of thousands of people - 'Let us give you our money! Let us work! Let us pay our way!' It all seems a bit topsy turvy doesn't it.

Anyway, once you've made your case, wrangled with the beurocracy, ripped through the red tape with your teeth and sumo'd immigration into submission, you'll have set a precedent and then we can all say, 'Well you let him do it so you have to let me!'

You see, your name could go down in history as a trailblazer man! ;)

Next Prime Minister even...

Vote MACFOD! And with his unique approach to the LTBV, he must be from the Monster Raving Looney Party!

Do they even exist still?
