It's the tourists fault. They feel NZ is such a safe place that they leave their valuables in clear view in the front seat.

Take it from me, it happened to me on my 3rd day here.

Oh, a note from Al Sheepa:
If tourists are out trying to pet the sheep (or steal them) they have let their guard down in regards to their possessions. Shame on them. Stay away from the sheep!! ;) ;)

In all seriousness - As a tourist, are you more likely to be on guard when you are in Mexico and the Philippines and Thailand? You betcha.

Stevey - I agree. They are very slow drivers here. Though my new flatmate royally scares me when she drives (politically correct statement: this is not indicitave of NZ women drivers...seriously, women are generally considered better drivers here).....she sees a conflict, or a '1 way-do not enter' sign, and she SPEEDS UP! Aye caramba. I just try to stare at the floor and think happy thoughts. [smiley=icon_eek.gif]
