Which School years? (DUMB QUESTION)

This really is simpleton stuff....but the heat is getting to me and my brain is puddles but,

What 'years' will our girls be going into. They are 8 and 9 with birthdays in december, making them 9 and 10 this december. We are hoping to ge them into school for the start of the new term on the 9th of October.

I have tried reading round on a fews sites, but they all seem fairly vague. Probably was its all 'taken for granted stuff'.

Please dont me when I am in such a backward state!

I dont know too much about the schooling side of things but my friends little girl started school last year about Nov time when we left NZ and went into class 1 at the age of 5 she's turning 6 in sept 2006.

They usually work on the year you were born. Presuming your daughters were born in 1997 and 1996, I would think they would go into Years 4 and 5.

You are right, LilAmy - a child who is 6 this year (2006) should be in Year 1.
