Criminal Record

My police record shows three offences from when I was a teenager (Criminal damage and theft). Does anyone know if this will stop me getting residency? These offences are 16/17 years old.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

On the NZIS? site in the Police Certificates section, it talks about obtaining a certificate from the countries you have lived in within the last 10 years. If this was the case you should be OK, but I remember some time ago, it was queried whether this time limit had been amended. Perhaps if it?s your own country rather than one you lived in as an expatriate, it?s different.

One would hope that, if you have remained spotless since that time, NZIS would look upon you favourably. It might be best to give them a ring and ask them directly how you stand.
