I'm also looking for fee free account and found that HSBC online saver is the only one mentioned on Interest rates in New Zealand, the only issue that I see is there is no branch access for most of NZ, however don't really need a branch anyway unless you have cheque deposits (in which case I would post them in)

One nice thing about banking in NZ is that it's entirely possible to never have to write a cheque. With EFTPOS, a credit card and Internet banking, I only write about 1 or 2 cheques a month -- which could easily drop to zero after just a little more effort on my part.

That makes accounts like the ASB Streamline pretty attractive, I think (although it's normally free, they do charge a $3 per cheque service fee).
