Pet Ownership in NZ

someone told me that you aren't allowed to own a pet for 2 years after arriving in NZ, is this correct ?

well i have to say i have not heard of a two year wait and the pet movers we have contacted so far have not mentioned anything.
i realy hope not as that will cause us a few head aches

I'm afraid I've never heard of that either.

We looked into taking our pooch across to NZ on a WHV and no one ever mentioned any time scales at all???

This may be wrong, you may want to contact Immi about that one to make sure?

No, no, no. That's not right. There's been a load of people who have shipped their pets over, to arrive not long after they have. Some people like to have a bit of time to find suitable accommodation before the pet/s arrive, but that's about it. No restriction on owning one from the time you get there.
