Sorry the comment wasn't meant as an anti-american one rather that I was trying to highlight why the fuel costs so much because of the taxation (aiming to reduce usage of cars).
I very much believe each to their own and I wouldn't expect the things I looked for in selecting the country I'm moving to to be the same as what others are looking for.. and I wish them all the best and hope they find the new life they are looking for... where ever it may be

I agree, it is interesting to see how NZ compares to countries other than the UK. You can only judge a country by how you yourself find it - not by otheres experiences. The poster had the sense to find out first before making a very costly mistake - all credit to them.
