Default I love Kiwis - good old NZIS

Mother Bear and Steve - you are a founts of knowledge and sage advice. Thanks to both of you for your help - and good luck in your own endeavours!
Sounds like I'd better get my skates on and think about police reports (I think I need one from England and Scotland, seeing as I've lived in both).

I can't imagine there's anything I could tell you that you guys don't already know about NZ but I'd be happy to return the favour if there's anything you can think of asking! I've got friends in Auckland, Wellington, the Wairarapa and Kapiti Coast (sorry to sound like a big boaster) who I can ask for "on the ground info" but I'm sure you've got your contacts too.

Better get on with my thesis now - it's not going to write itself, more's the pity.

Lil.

It's not neccessarily a good thing to say you're on a WHV after applying for EOI. It would still be good to give the impression that the WHV is to ensure NZ is right for you (even if you've actually already made your mind up).

You can however submit your EOI once you're in NZ on a WHV that's what I was advised to do last night.

MB, the lady I spoke to said loads of people were having problems where they were applying for police repots when they got there ITA and struggling to meet the submission deadline with police reports. I would recommend applying for police reports when you see you're selected. Just to give yourself that breathing space. We no how 'helpful' any governent body can be in UK so last thing I want is to be swearing down the phone to no avail at a police person :icon_evil:

Lil, you really shouldn't have said that, alot of those areas I am interested in living and I lack contacts in that area, so brace yourself :icon_biggrin:

Wouldn't it be a bit confusing for NZIS if they had you down for both a WHV application and an EOI? Don't know whether they'd let you do both at the same time. I'd have thought WHV first, then, as Stevey says, EOI once you've got something on the go in NZ. You could go on a visitor's visa and do the same thing if you could find a job and get a Work Permit, then progress onto PR if you wanted to stay in NZ.

You can have two at the same time no problem they're designed to overlap a certain amount. But just don't submit EOI and then ask for a revision to be made saying, I'm going a WHV btw.

However that bit of info is pure speculation, they mights be fine about it.

If in doubt just do as I did, for the sake of an international call. It's a tiny amount compared to bigger costs involved in immigration. Call NZIS on the NZ number they publish on the website and ask away. That's what they're there for and they're really helpful all the times I ring.
