Default Me going to find a job - wish me luck!

Dear all,

As you know I am actively searching for a job ever since I gotten my work visa. After several weeks of no replies from potential employers I now embarking on a brave move. I am travelling to Wellington next month to secure a job offer. Amazing after making my travel plan know to recruitment agencies and potential employers, I now have several replies that they want to meet up and chat! Yipppe!

I will try to keep everyone posted of my happenings as much as I can. I will be staying at a hostel in welly and there is free internet but only half hour for each day. With the limited timing and the only source of way I can post in the midst of checking emails and replying emails I hope I can carry on posting on this forum. However as said, I will try my best!

I won't be renting a car in Welly since I understand it is a compact city, I can survive on buses and trains. Besides I will bring a foldable bike so I am sure I will get around easy. I printed out all the maps I can find on welly including some really beautiful and detailed ones from Greater Wellington council. I should be fine making my way around with those maps.

Take care all...

Oh well done, Pulsarblu. Brave move indeed, but it shows the system does work i.e. if you can?t get a job from home, travel to NZ or, as we say ?If Mohammad won?t come to the mountain, the mountain must go to Mohammad.?

It?s great that potential employers are taking notice of you now. Of course, we?ll keep our fingers and toes crossed for you while you?re there.

Here?s a lucky 4-leaf clover (shamrock) to help you on your way.

Good luck Pulsarblu! [smiley=023.gif]

It really is not surprising that companies prefer to interview in person.

Hope you have a great time whizzing around Wellington on the buses or your bike. Exciting!

Well done and best of luck.
We do the same thing In November when we land with no jobs, but armed with desire and determination.

Optimism is everything, nice one mate.

We'll be doing the same shortly, and recruitment agents have said the same kind of thing 'keep checking the jobsites and we'll keep your details on file but when you come over, as soon as you arrive we'll arange a face to face meeting'. Lets hope they mean a meeting where jobs can be found rather than, check your details and fob you off with being added to there database.

Time will tell.
