Nope - your credit history in the UK counts for nothing here, you start from scratch.

Only Npower? How about loading your wallet with all the "guaranteed approval" home loans on the telly? Consolidate all your debts with one home loan, have that holiday you always dreamed of, that new car is only a phone call away....grab it all and bolt for the airport

[smiley=icon_mrgreen.gif]

That'll teach the "persons of questionable parentage"!

Default Credit Checks

Hey Guys

If you have debt, its best to deal with it before you go. there are many ways creditors can find you now.. A friend of mine who is going to Sydney is applying an AVI which allows one of these companies to contact all your creditors and sort out 1 monthly payment over 5 years then whatever is left of your debt os written off.

This will leave your credit status in the UK in poor shape but then your going to be leaving

Interesting. It really sucks in such a global economy era. Wonder why they don't want to go by your overseas credit history? Darn, and we have such a tidy credit rating.

I don't think the credit providers in New Zealand would actually have access to any UK credit reference agencies to check the history anyway, so it may not be that they don't want to, it might just be that they can't!

However, if you have managed to build yourself up a good credit history (whatever country you are in) it's worth getting hold of a copy and bringing it with you to NZ, as it may come in useful.

hehe I was only joking Kitchnerd. Leccy companies aren't linked to credit reference anyway.

For those that are UK based it may be worth considering using the services of www.checkmyfile.com. For ?16.95 you could get your actual credit report from the top three credit agency's. As it will not count when looking for credit but if you have a good score then it might be useful when trying to get rental accomodation from a private landlord?

At the very least to know what Big Brother records about us all may surprise you.

They're also handy for finding out which accounts are still active, even though you don't use them. I have a couple that I learned about this way, and need to close. They're also useful to find out if someone else is opening accounts in your name. In the US, you can now get one free basic credit report per year. I hope there's something similar in the UK.
