    Default solicitor's costs

    Hi,
I'm just completing my business plan for my LTBV and was wondering if anyone out there can let me know roughly how much solicitor's/legal costs are for purchasing a small retail outlet in NZ?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Default solicitor's costs

    Hi Wendie,

How much they cost depends on how complicated it gets. Much like a house sale, where a straight forward sale can cost $500, or a more complicated one can cost $800-$1000.

If you are just buying a lease, or no property is involved, I doubt it will cost much more than a few hundred as your solicitor will just check over the lease / terms of sale for you.

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.

Not sure I can help Wendie but thought I'd be nosy and ask what kind of shop you plan to buy/set up, we have similar ambitions once PR has been granted.

    Thanks taffy.
my husband is plodding along quite nicaly (my babies new word,)
the cost of a solicitor is cheaper than expected. but it all adds up in the business plan.
we have to get it back to our case officer on wednesday the 5th.
so trev is doing more every spare minute. it is little things like this that put you on hold. so thank you for your speedy reply.

    Default solicitor's costs

    Hi stevey.
we own a post office with a retail side, so we have the experience necessary.
because we have 6 children we had to go for a business with a high personal income quite difficult to find a suitable business with a high p.i..
at this minute our c.o wants to know details of everything and anything.
it is quite brain boggling to collate every thing in such a hurry.
we originally used an agent, but he turned out to be a waste of time, money and effort.
so now we are doing it ourselves with the help of this forum we are slowly doing okay.
my husband wants to take things slightly slower than we are now.
so we are going for a single business, with less hour than what we do at the minute.
he is a professional musician, so we are combining the two skill to purchase a music shop. with expansion plans to satisfy my husbands desires.
what is it that you are dreaming of ?.
what are you getting your pr on ?.
we are more than happy to try and help out with any knowledge that we have gained. this of course assuming we get our visa. cos if we fail. then we did it wrong and it will be no good to any one.

hehe long way down the road yet but ultimately, we want to open a gift/homewares shop. Gives us both opportunity to man the shop and have a break from the children whilst exercising flair and creativity in buying and store layout etc.
Where do you think you'll head for when you arrive then?

Oh good. You can sell my craft items when I come down then and Selchie's (if she'd trust you with them, of course). Sorted. [smilie=stupid grin.gif]

    hi dawn,
his main love is the drums and vibs, but i can get quite jealous when he gets a tune out of almost anything he picks up
he made a few singing records when he was a wee boy, but now hes (dropped) sorry all grown up, he can't sing as well. but hay i still can. LOL.
