[quote:5d3e128c0a="Mother Bear"] And I'm sure you'll be in NZ well before me, Stevey [smilie=cry.gif] . I'll be left rattling round an empty forum.[/quote:5d3e128c0a]

I will be still on the forum even when I moved to NZ and that is a promise. :icon_biggrin:

[quote:ffc0fa2f75="SteveyC"]Flat broke until we sell as well tho, which just makes things harder. Can't even go on holiday to pass the time since we're a tad overstretched. PLus we wouldn't want to miss any viewings.

I am sure your house will be sold... I agree with MotherBear, there is always a reason that you are still in UK and not NZ sooner than you hope, perhaps when you move over, housing pricing are lower and etc, then you will bound to benefit. It is like good medicine which is bitter but beneficial to your health. You may be having a hard time now but I am sure all will turn out well only if you persist on and never get defeated.

I am struggling to find a job offer given that I have a time limited work visa and at the same time my hope of getting my current company to relocate me to NZ (thus not necessary to find a job in NZ) is quickly disappearing. I just moved to a new role in my current company and now I am having a hard time trying to work out something to avoid fiction between my superior who have invested in me time and money to get me to this new role. And at the same time, I cannot let go of the chance of a lifetime to move to NZ so it is tough for me. Many recruitment agencies told me I have to be in NZ physically to secure any interviews but my budget is kind of tight so it is not easy..However I am determine and will surely succeed to find a job offer in NZ.

Good luck

The reason that Paul found launching the business pretty difficult was more so due to the area. Tauranga is an incredibly difficult market to crack as people stick to friends. Owning a business here is so much easier than the UK, but the market can be very difficult to get into initially. I certainly wouldnt bother with a car cleaning franchise, more trouble than its worth!

The business is now sold and they both work for Kiwi-Ora, a training provider for new immigrants.

If you want to restore classic British sports cars, Natty, then you need to live up this way as I'm doing a Mk1 Escort Mexico at the moment and could use a hand! :icon_biggrin:

Default Information is great

Stevy, any info is great.
Ok I admit its so confusing at times but my wife and I ( from next Thursday) are selling up now and leaving to arrive for hopefully a new life in Dunedin in September.
No jobs, no business experience but a desire to succed and start our own business if need be in the area.
It is as others say difficult to sort from the UK but as a mature couple at least we have some money to be able to get over there.
Ok we miss the 18-30 bracket for WHV by almost twenty years ha ha

But I'm sure most others like me always pick of bits of info off the site and you should keep inputting.

How are you on LTNV planning :icon_biggrin:

Counting the days ..fingers crossed the house will complete next month

Will be a restoration diary when I get round to it! Go easy on her, she looks pretty darn rough at the moment, bless her!

Looks good mate..

How is the engine? Are you doing all the welding and painting yourself?
I fancy having a go at a restore, but my welding isn't too good..

Did you buy that out there did you?
What's the market like for old ecorts?
I'm more of a MkII man myself..

I just sold a Mk II to get this one. There's plenty of MK II's around, most of them in much better condition than you'd ever expect in the UK. There's not many Mk 1's left so I picked this one up.

I'm rebuilding the engine at the moment and will be painting the body when all the welding etc is done.

If you fancy a Mk II restoration, you can pick one up in a 4 door for around $4-600 or a 2 door for about $3000 as a rolling body!
