Default Health care/Tax/Council Tax!!?? etc

Hello to all

I am due to arrive in Auckland in 9 days time with the intention of finding work and taking it from there! :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool:

Can anyone shed any light on the cost of things such as:

1 health care (me 38 wife 37 daughter 9) although initially I will only require cover for myself.

2 Property taxes like our council tax/rates etc :icon_sad:

3 Income taxes and any form of national insurance :icon_cry:

4 Car insurance

Any info on these or other life long burdens would be welcomed. I am currently earning ?27K but it looks like jobs in NZ may be around NZ$ 40 - 50K (YIKES!!) :icon_frown: so I would just like a feel as to whether or not this is enough.

thanks

Bruce

Insurance is pretty cheap here. Health/Travel/Car insurance aren't bad at all. Don't have any specific rates though.

Southern Cross is the big medical insurance company. It's about $50 a month for me (25 years old).

AMI is one of the bigger car insurance companies (I still need to get some).

ACC is the national insurance, but you don't really pay for that directly. If your self-employed, then you'll feel it....Still NZ is the easiest place to own your own business.
