Default Construction Jobs in Bay of Plenty area

Hi folks, we're new to the forum, we're so grateful we found this site, it's answered so many questions already!! :icon_biggrin:

My OH is a carpenter/joiner and we're hoping to move to the Bay of Plenty area. I wonder if anyone knows if this is a good area to look for this type of work? Is there any particular area we should go for? We have 3 young children so hopefully somewhere thats easily accessable for schools etc.

    Many thanks!!

    Hi Fingerscrossed,

I would hope that your OH?s carpenter/joiner skills would be very welcome in most places in NZ where there is building work going on. Has he looked on the NZIS site?s new job section, which has just started up? http://www.immigration.govt.nz/networkz/ . I haven?t been into the site myself but it may be worth a look.

The Bay of Plenty is a lovely area. Here?s another link from which you can look up the demographic profile of the area. On the dropdown menu, select either Tauranga district or Western Bay of Plenty. https://www.qv.co.nz/onlinereports/p...ghbourhood.htm

http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery;...ktext=Tauranga . Read up about the Bay of Plenty area with clickable green links for further information.

You can research schools in the area on here http://www.tki.org.nz/e/schools/

Sorry it?s all links rather than ?on the ground? information (I?m not in NZ yet, unfortunately), but I?m sure someone will be along to fill in some gaps for you.

I think that carpenters are like gold dust.

I don't think you'll have too much trouble anywhere.

Welcome and good luck, maybe we'll see you there we are going to Tauranga.

Many construction employers do not want to counter offer with an employer who resigns because they feel rewarding such behavior (increasing pay or position) is not appropriate, and they do not want to set the wrong example for those who obtain increases appropriately. Never use a competitive offer to raise your pay or position with an employer. You should always discuss your requirements and ambitions with your employer and not with an outside employer if you want to be perceived as loyal and committed to the firm.
