Estate agents are always the same then!

Having mailed four differnt agents in the Dunedin looking for various property/ business info it looks as they are not interested and we have to do it ourselves looking at their sites.
Interesting that no one bothers to reply.
Perhaps thats it- I could start my own estate agency out there :icon_wink:

Perhaps real estate agents in NZ are the same as some job agents - they don't take you seriously until you're there in front of them. I suppose they must wonder if they are wasting their time dealing with people outside the country, in case they never get round to taking that big step and immigrating.

well. I suppose I expect too much.
Its the nitty grittys that take time so as you say maybe a cheque book in
my back pocket would excite them..

I have never sent my cv to so many company's.

Sent it off to one in the uk and got an email and interview staright back!
But dont really need a long term full time one here as we have MAY pencilled in to fly out..
Well, I suppose I should get some interview practice.

I have found Harcourts to be very helpful, however I usually put in the email that we are immigrating very shortly.
Also several sites offer the ability to sign up for their mailing lists on line.

I too have found Harcourts very useful and as they're arguably the biggest in NZ I guess that's a bonus.

We too were unsuccessful in getting replies from real estate agencies in NZ. Thank God as it turns out. As with hotel rooms an holiday brochures the reality is often far from the image. It really is a matter of location location, some of the 'best bargains' are situated in areas where you wouldn't want to live. I guess that the agents know that and don't want to go with prospective purchasers/tenants who will back out as soon as they see the place.

We had the same problem when we were in the UK. Trying to get responses via email was a nightmare.

However, when you are on NZ turf, this is what the estate agents we have encountered are like.

We've dealt alot with Ray White with our rentals - http://www.raywhite.co.nz - and they have always been great. Very helpful, if something is wrong with the house it gets sorted quickly and generally have been great.

We've dealt with Harcourts a few times when looking for houses, but mostly the rural agents. This is what happened at the last house we looked at:

The agent met up with us and took us out to the house. Showed us around everywhere and then left us to look around ourselves for as long as we wanted. After that, she took us down the street to see the neighbouring houses to show us that it was all nice. Then she took us to the river to show us how nice it was and gave us a great rundown on local history and how the local settlements were formed. Then she took us for a drive down the river esplanade to show us all the sights of the area. We were with the agent for 2 hours in total!

I know they want to sell houses, but is that service or what?!

I long for the words customer satisfaction to be back in my world. It seems that there's so many morons with too much credit that noone has to worry about company image anymore or long term reputation cos if I walk away disgusted with the service I've received they just shrug and serve the next customer. :icon_evil:
