Are there any mobile phones that you can take from the UK that will work in NZ :icon_question:

Yes, most networks will work here, but you pay international call charges for every call you make. If you get a NZ sim card, it should just slot in to your phone, but some phones may require unlocking. You can only get Vodafone and Telecom connections here (plus a few others, but they are all basically vodafone or telecom resellers!).

So could we keep the UK phone no and just change the sim card when we get to NZ?

Or would changing the sim change the number too?

Yes changing the SIM changes your number

Also depeding on how you do things your contacts etc will all be on your SIM. There is a way on most phones where you can keep your contats on your handset.

Personally the mobile is one of the big (and first) things I'm looking forward to getting rid off..

Keeping the same phone number and SIM card is not possible, as you would be on a completely different (New Zealand) network. You would also have to be in range of a UK base station.

Bearing in mind the rather patchy coverage in some parts of the UK, I think NZ might be a bit too far for a signal to reach...................

The phones do work here, most networks have an arrangement with vodafone to be the carrier. The phone would have to be fairly modern though, and capable of roaming.

As everyone else has mentioned though, it's not possible to keep a UK number with an NZ sim card.
