I've obviously not put this question to NZHC here in London yet, but, how long does the sponsoring process take in general for wife and 3 kids :icon_question:

Wil they be applying for residency based on partnership?

Those applications can either happen really quickly, or really slowly! I'd imagine, as the number of applications is at a serious low at the moment, it would happen pretty quickly for you.

    Fingers crossed anyway!

Appreciate your thoughts Taffy. Will get myself off to NZHC asap from receipt of passport.
Won't be completely convinced of citizenship until I'm holding it in my hand.

    Hi
I have a sponsorship question too. I hold a NZ passport but I am now married to an English guy and we have a daughter who was born in the UK. We intend on moving to Wellington one day (1-2 years away). I was told that I can't apply to sponsor my husband and daughter until we know when we're going as we have to get there within 6 months of them receiving their residency. Does anyone know if this is correct? It would be much easier if we could just apply now and then move when we want to.
    Thanks
    Sam

forgot to say in my previous post that I was only told that information by a friend, not by any official.

    Thanks

I believe it's more like 12 months after getting PR to get there and activate it. I vaguely remember something about being able to extend it to 18 months for special circumstances. I'll have to check back and see if I can find it again.

Thanks - 12 months would be better. Now we just have to decide whether to go or not!!! I change my mind daily!
