    Default Tax credits etc

My family and I are planning for the move to Christchurch in 2006 and have read various opinions regarding benefits available.

We will be coming over as skilled migrants and are trying to establish if we would be eligible for benefits such as Tax Credits or Family Allowance (or equivalents).

If so is there criteria i.e. Permanent resident, income related etc.

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated. We're working on the basis that the more research we do now, the easier the transition will be????

    Many Thanks

    Tim and Family.

    Hi Tim,

Have a read through this. Perhaps it will explain how their scheme works.

    Hi Mother Bear,

Many thanks for such a rapid reply.

It's half confirmed what I thought, but how long does it take to get residency???

    Thanks

    Tim.

look in 'any other questions', page 2. There is a post there all about tax credits. Basically, yes, I think that you will be entitled to tax credits!

Sorry, missed this first time round.

I think it depends on how NZIS review your application. If you have a job offer I think it speeds things up. Quite a few of our members have had a rapid response to their applications lately so you may be lucky.
