Default Family Entitlement

Hello out there.
Stumbled across this site yesterday - looks cool :icon_cool:
I submitted a question yesterday and it looks as though I had difficulty in driving this beast as it has not appeared anywhere on this site to my knowledge. (First timer in using this type of outlet)
Anyway here goes again.
I am currently awaiting the arrival of my first NZ passport, I am eligible by descent :icon_biggrin:
Q1. Does this passport enable me to live and work in NZ forever and a day :icon_question:
Q2. If so, Would I be able to take my wife and 3 children with me :icon_question:
I look forward to your replies.
Regards,
Julian.

Default Family Entitlement

Hi Julian :006: ,

Welcome to the forum. Glad to see you made it at the second attempt :icon_biggrin: .

I?m no expert, just trying to fill in for the gurus who may know better than me, but are living in a different time zone and currently snugly tucked up in their beds.

This is how I see it. If you have the right to hold a NZ passport, wouldn?t that surely mean that you are, in fact, a NZ citizen? If it does, then I would have thought that you would be able to stay in NZ ad infinitum. Also, being a NZ citizen, I would assume that you would also have the right to have your family with you under the partnership scheme. Your wife would have to apply to join you in NZ on a permanent basis or you can apply to sponsor her. Take a look at this link which, I hope, explains a bit about it.

This is simply me adding up 2+2 and getting 4 but, if I?m wrong, I?m sure someone will put me right.
