Sponsoring parents to come and join us

My only sibling and I with our families have had PR as of Feb and we intend sponsoring our parents to join us when we have been PR for 3 years. They have been here for 6 months and have left for 6 months at the moment and intend to continue doing this until we can sponsor them. Having read some of the postings I am wondering if this is going to be as straightforward as we think? They are retired and therefore can't come under any other category. Can they go to Australia for the 6 months out of the country as I was told that this was not allowed? Any info would be appreciated. :icon_confused:

Hmmm think they'll be a good chance that Australia will have the same kind of system in place, so blatantly rotating the two altho obviously fine, from our perspective, may not be considered good practice by the respective immigration authorities. I hope someone can correct me if I'm wrong as I know that's not great news.
As regards the Sponsoring side of things, with the whole family balance in NZ surely the family quota scheme should be your friend in these circumstances, but I'm not quite brushed up enough on this side of things to say fo sure, (parlty as I can't wait to get away from half my folks hehe).

I read this, but don't know whether it will help at all, as I don't know you're situation and we don't know if or when things will change. It would be helpful though if they did narrow the waiting time (speaking as one who is also waiting to get in via this category)

Sponsors must now hold residence permits for three years in order to sponsor their parents as for the sibling category above. The Government is currently considering softening that qualifying period so that the sponsor must have been in New Zealand for three years i.e. on a temporary permit such as a work permit and now hold a residence permit.

Believe me, I get more than I give out, especially when he and his bro get together and gang up against me. Can you believe, they even used to bring their friends/girlfriends round 'to watch me laugh' (apparently I had a hilarious laugh). We all ended up practically rolling around the floor.
