We have experienced the usual problems associated with tradesmen - not turning up etc. It is very difficult to know who to trust wherever you are in the world when you want agood job at a reasonable rate.
On Sunday we went to The Home exhibition in Auckland and came upon what we think could be a very useful organisation.

This organisation screens tradepeople who register with them and performs a credit check.
The person matched with you wants to do your particular job.
You have access online to their credentials and references as well as a photo so that you will recognise them when they call.
The service is free - only registered tradespeople pay fees to the company.
Sounds worth a try to me. I will certainly call them when I have some work to do around the house.

Looks like a good option for those needing work doing around the Auckland area. Pity they don't expand to other areas.

Initially, I couldn't open the link from this site and just retyped it into the address box and it worked then, in case someone else has the same problem.
