Partner joinging me in NZ

After a little advice. I have been with my boyfriend for 13 months now but we don't live together yet. Therefore when I applied to NZ I could not include him on my application. We are moving in together in 5 weeks :icon_biggrin: . So my question is, how does he come over to NZ. Could he get a work permit and then apply for PR once he is there? I don't think that he will get high enough points for PR initally as he will not have enough work experience (a fellow scientist but newly qualified).

And another question, what if your family increases in size ie kids. How do you deal with this. Are they automatically allowed in with me or would I have to put them in Barnardos :smiley5: I know with Australia they are just added on to your visa. By the way there is no addition expect , just for future reference, maybe :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

That would depend where the kids are born. If you are residing in NZ at te time, they are automatic kiwi citizens, so there is no problem at all. If they are born outside of NZ, you would have to sponsor them, although to what degree I dont really know.

If you cannot sponsor your partner, then he will most certainly have to find his own way in. Without a job, he has the option of a Working Holiday Visa if he is aged 18 - 30, or else it will just have to be a visitors permit, until he can a job.
