Nothing sad about it, we potential immigres have a lot riding on the outcome. Immigration policies will change one way or the other, I believe, but just who's making those changes could be very important to us all.

Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the update Taffy,
Mother Bear - Thanks for not thinking me sad, you are right all potential migrants have a lot riding on the outcome, but me more than most,as a Trade Union Organiser the job prospects will definitely be better under a Labour govt. in fact the union that I had a telephone interview with put their expansion plans on hold when a Labour win started to look a little less certain. No job offer = not enough points. :icon_sad:
So its everything crossed for a surge in Labour votes for me!

Oooh! Tricky situation Sian. If things go belly up and National gets in, will you still be able to go to NZ i.e. can your husband get you in with enough points or are you relying on getting in on your points alone, if you get the job? Your fingernails must be bitten down to the stubs by now. I?ll keep everything crossed for you that is crossable.

To have enough points one of us needs a job offer, if this doesn't work out for me, then we have a plan B which is to go down the Saraian route and just get ourselves out there on a visitors visa and hopefully OH will be able to find a job in IT, whereupon we'll apply for work visas then onto PR. So even if National do get in we'll still be going at some point, although all that aside I would still prefer Labour to get in - National did some terrible things to Emplyment legislation when they were in power previously which ultimately affects everyone who works.
I used to have quite nice nails :icon_wink:

70% counted, National holds a 1.3% lead... This doesnt mean that National will take over as government if they win. The government will be made up of several different parties, who offer support to major parties at the end of an election. Talks seem to be that Labour will be the winners after this support from other political parties has been added....

It's all happening very fast now. Result of having a relatively small population no doubt. Even I'm all of a boil now and I'm not likely to be getting into NZ for another 3 years unless the new government allows us wrinklies to walk right in. How often do they hold elections? Probably might even be another one before I get there.
