Oh, and about the fell walking - apparently walking clubs are popular in NZ (yay!). When on the Coromandel at dinner, we met a group from Whangarei who were on a weeklong tramping holiday. They seemed to all be 60 and older, and were a hoot! Sounds like a good way to meet good people when we get there.

Yeah I have checked out a couple of websites about tramping. The landscape looks fantastic and I can't wait to get my boots on and get out there! I agree that it will be a great way to meet people. In fact I stated this to my immigration officer when she asked how I intend meeting people. Although I do hope there will be some 30 somethings there too :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif . Nothing against the oldies though :icon_biggrin:

You gotta start somewhere Goss! There are loads of good blow-along cds if you can't make lessons. Try The Jazz Method for Saxophone by John O'Neill - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...834570-9147062

Sorry about the length of that link! I bought it years ago, the cd is scratched and the book is terribly dog-eared, but still play it regularly now!

We've got two boys (7,5) and a girl (3). They can all blow the horns, but struggle to hold them. I bought them a melodica (like a red plastic keyboard that you blow) to get them going. However, the boys think that's pants and want a drum kit and an electric guitar for christmas, so I guess we'll be looking for a place with very few neighbours once we get to NZ.....

I used to be an MBA in a suit, tried to do it all and lost my way. I now teach P/T on management programmes at an FE college and do a bit of freelance consultancy, which I'm hoping to carry on once we get to NZ. No fixed destination in mind, although we both like Napier and Nelson.....

Thanks for the link kokopeli. Whenever I hear a great sax solo I always think, I will I could play like that! Should have started when I was a kid. The trouble with trying to learn as an adult is you expect to much of yourself. Want to be a Grover Washington Jr. already! If only.

How long have you played for? Oh, I did do the Grade 5 theory paper too.

Started playing about 30 years ago, although I stopped playing when I got to eighteen and discovered women and beer! Started again in my late twenties. I spent three years gigging with a ska band, but much prefer the big band stuff nowadays. Still do the occasional gig now, but nothing regular.
