Question for Teachers

Does anybody know if my OH can teach in New Zealand if she completes the Primary PGCE in UK and then heads over as soon as it's finished?

The reason I ask is that someone mentioned to me that she would have to do a year in a school after completing the PGCE in order to obtain QTS.

Hi pleccy2000,

I was going to do my primary PGCE here but was also advised I would need to do the NQT year (also you only have a limited time to do it - 3 years I think - so if you moved back to the UK have not completed then your partner would ned to do the PGCE again!!).

I have now decided to do my teacher training in NZ as their curriculum is different from ours anyway and there is probably more chance of finding employment with their qualification.
