Default a question for a health professional in NZ?

what is [b:05a3c873b0]a current Annual Practising Certificate [/b:05a3c873b0]?

I've just read a midwifery vacancy post and it wants one of them..

Anyone in that line of work looking to move there http://www.tonix.co.nz seems to have a fair old list of vacancies..

Default a question for a health professional in NZ?

    Hi,

an Annual Practising Certificate is required to be able to legally practice as a midwife in NZ. It is a seperate process from your registration, and you will receive an application along with your registration certificate. The amount this will cost varies on when you start work:

    1 April - 30 June $620
    1 July - 30 September $465
    1 October - 31 December $310
    1 January - 31 March $155

This only applies to the first practising certificate. There is a different rate in all subsequent years. My employer has said that I need to pay for the first year, but that they cover the cost any following years that I am employed by them.

By the way, there are plenty of midwife positions in NZ, but as a new grad most hospitals only take on so many per year. The hospital I am working at employs 2 new grads every six months. I suppose it depends where you apply. If anything comes up in the near future I will let you know. When do you qualify and when are you planning on moving to NZ?

Any more questions, let me know

    Nikki

    thanks Nikki,

She qualifies in 8 weeks time (woohoo)
Her UK registration is due 1st week in October at which point she'll get the NZ application on the go..

You said your reg in NZ took 3 or 4 months so we should be good to go by Feb... maybe sooner...

Was looking on the tonix.co.nz site last night... Sh*t loads of midwife jobs on the north island , most wanting experience right enough but at least there are jobs there..

How's it going for you and yours..?
I bet you'll all miss the upcoming European Nights at Tannadice....

    Cheers for now

    Craig
