    just wondered whether anyone has taken, or has experience of using a TomTom Sat Nav in NZ. Can you get the software for the NZ roads?

    You're better off asking the manufacturer of the unit whether they have any NZ software available for their units.

    There are very few GPS systems available here, so software is limited.

    unless it is a multi region DVD player then it will not play any DVDs that you buy in NZ

    Yep ::):

    But don't forget you'll need to buy some Britain-NZ adaptors for any UK electrical items you are bringing over - you can buy them in Tesco!

    Hi sara

    Most Regional DVD players can be "cracked" with a code keyed in through the handset to make them multi region or region free. Google or Jeeves will help you with that one. Mosts DVDs connect to Tvs with either SCART or AV connectors, which are universal as well. When we were there at Christmas DVD players were still quite expensive by UK standards. Cheapies in Warehouse were still around ?70. We have started our collection of DVDs to take with us, such essentials like The Office, Black Adder, Tracey Beaker etc etc.

    I am not sure about Tom Tom, its a dutch firm & I dont know about worldwide coverage. If your Tom Tom is used through a PDA, I do know that GPS coverage in NZ is good and I am sure they have digital mapping, so someone must do a Sat Nav system. But saying that with so few major roads, we found it easy to navigate by map & road sign! And another thing, if you need Tom Tom to "get there ASAP", or your in NZ for the wrong reason!

    Cheers

    Nick
