    Default Retirement

We were planning to relocate to New Zealand in a few years. It has always been a dream of mine. My husband would be 60 and I 45 at the time we wanted to go.

I am disappointed to find out we cannot relocate as retirees. We were hoping tobuy a small hobby farm as we both love nature, gardening and wildlife.

Guess I'll have to be content with visiting.

    Hello Wildflower,
    That is too bad.
I think there are possibilities, but only if you have sufficient money?!
But on the other hand - holidays in NZ are great as well. We will definitely make a travel to NZ when we will not be able to obtain that so wanted visa.
Good luck with recovering from this bad info.
    Regards,
    Anita

You can still go to retire if you have enough money to get an investors residency permit. You need 1 million NZ dollars to do this about 380K GBP

Age is a factor too. If you had $1million, you would still need to be under 29 to gain enough points. At retirement age, you need more like $12million to score highly enough.

It's a hard one to do is the investors category.

As far as I can tell from the website, you only have to be under 85

    Here's the chart:

You get negative points once you are over 65, and the pass mark is currently 12 points....

Just persuade your kids to go over there..or a close realtive of some sort. Then go on family quota. Its the only way I'll get my parents over I think.
