Default 2 year Work Visa under partnership What are the hassels ??

Bet you feel better with that lot off your chest!

Sadly you are right though, its the people who abuse the system that cause the stress for the legitimate applicants. To some people marriage is just something to be arranged to gain residency through some back door shark for a substantial amount of money, which gives genuine people like you a tough time.

I'm sure it will all come together for you in time. With a 9 month visitors permit and a 12 month work permit gives you well over the 12 months required to prove your relationship is 'genuine and stable'.

Keep us posted :icon_wink:

Default 2 year Work Visa under partnership What are the hassels ??

Hi Jen
I'm from the US. I think you had 2 things that really worked in your favor. 1. Looks like you already had established 12 months of living with your Kiwi Partner when you applied & 2. You filed in the UK which seems to be twice as fast as the NZIS here in New Zealand. Way to go! :icon_mrgreen:
Also you are right about NZ wanting their citizens to come home, always something in the paper or on tv about it.

Hi usc,

Where are you in NZ right now?

Yep, my partner and I had been living together for 15 months thereabouts when I filed the application, so I know that odds were more favorable. I don't know why it seems to be longer for applications to be dealt with in NZ, maybe some of the members (*looks at Taffy* :icon_wink: ) might know why it's the case. And from reading this forum and others, looks like NZIS London are in general very efficient when dealing with applications.

I also read that NZ are trying to get their expats back to homeland, I hope kiwis realize how great their country is and how lucky they are ::):

Good luck on your application for PR usc, crossing fingers you will get it very soon, you'll have to let us know !

- Jen

Default ALL DONE WE MADE IT Through the quick sand

Hi every one. Here were my final answers from the NZ Embassy in the Hague. It may help some one to read it. Thanks taffy for your help and you may see me here again in 6 months time with an update. I should invite you to the wedding. :icon_biggrin:

Sorry you feel confused!

As you and :::::::: have not lived together as a de facto couple for at least one year, and are not in fact together at the time her application was lodged, the maximum period we can grant her is a 9-month visitor visa. She may enter NZ on a one-way ticket, and she can apply for a further visitor or even a work permit once you have established your relationship and/or are married.

Medicals were required as her intention is to remain in NZ longer than two years.

Her visa allows her to travel in and out of NZ any time until the end of June 2006, by which time she will presumably have applied for another permit.

There is only a technical difference between visa and permit: visas are issued offshore, permits are issued within NZ.

I hope this explains everything, and that :::::::: will be able to arrange her departure from Latvia as soon as she is free to do so.

Kind regards

Marksie, that's good news, at least now you can get your lady here to marry and she can apply for her next permit from here before the 9month one runs out. From my own personal experience NZIS caused me a lot of anxiety and depression during a very emotional time,e.g. leaving my life in the US,my family & friends, my job & my apt. to come to a country that seemingly doesn't exactly welcome you with open arms.
My update: Got my passport back today with a new work permit/visa & this time they gave me the 2 years I asked for to begin with. Expires August 2007. I still don't get why NZIS couldn't have given me the 2year permit/visa I asked for to begin with. Well, at least now they have two years to work on my PR :icon_mrgreen:
