    Default Medical report timing

    Hellooo again.

Was thinking about arriving and medical reports etc. As I understand it they're only vallid for 3 months. Surely the time between leaving UK, getting job, and sending in ITA with medical report could well be greater than 3 months? How have other people worked this.
You don't have to have medical report for WHV do you, otherwise that would negate the need for one with ITA I assume?

We only had our police checks when we came over, in readyness for our residency application. Alas, after not finding a job for several months, they expired.

Lucky we didnt have our medicals done else that would have been a lot of cash down the pan.

I would wait until you are here for your medicals. You can get them done within a few weeks notice, so no biggy!

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.

Police checks last 6 months and medical last 3 months. Like Taffy said, our police checks expired before we received our ITA, so we just applied again to our local UK Police Force, and they sent up to date ones to NZ for us.
You can get your medicals done as soon as you like when you get over here (you don't have to get them done in Britain) but make sure everything else is in place for your ITA first, to avoid any delays and your medicals expiring. You'll see a GP for blood tests, questions about medical history etc, then you're sent along to the local hospital for x-rays.....
And no, you don't need a medical for a WHV....

    Hi guys
Do you have to have a medical for work permit, Just though if we take the plunge, come on visitor and get jobs, at what point to they ask for meds?

What kind of health insurance did you get, just wondering how comprehensive it needs to be?

You have to have a medical done if you are applying for a work permit for 2 years or longer. If you are applying for a work permit for anything less than 2 years, you don't have to have a medical. Other than that, you'll only need medicals when you apply for PR.
We don't have any health insurance - it costs $50 to see our GP (some GP's charge less) and about $15 per item on any prescription.... don't really know exactly what health insurance covers or how much it is :icon_confused: - never really checked it out - but fortunately we're a pretty healthy family, so don't have to visit our doctor much! ::):

What if people were to have an accident or need emergency medical treatment while on work permit or visitor visa.

As a UK citizen, you are entitled to free emergency treatment at a hospital, whatever visa/permit you come over on ::):
