    Default question about colleges/universities

    hi,

    what's the difference between "LTSS Requirements - Qualifications must be comparable to the standard of the New Zealand qualification listed" and "Qualifications - for General Skills and Skilled Migrant Category applicants" on the LTSS list? Do I just need the "general skills" in order to find a job? (I'm wanting to work with computers)

    also, are there alot of universities/colleges (what do you call them there?) that offer computer courses, in case I need more training after completing tech school here in the US?

    thanks ::):

    Ok,

    These qualifications are for claiming extra points for having a job in an area of absolute skills shortage. You dont HAVE to have these qualifications in order for your job to be classed as skilled.

    There are plenty of universities OR colleges(!) that offer computer training. It all depends at what level you want to study, as to which institution you go to.

    hm. So if I had a degree as a Networking Specialist, I could go find a job in NZ using those skills without having the additional expertise.

    sorry if I'm not getting this. :icon_confused: still trying to understand everything :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif LOL

    If you gain the degree now, and apply straight away, you may not have enough points without post qualification experience. To claim the extra points for a job in an AOASL under the LTSSL you will also need post qualification experience.
